Digital Spaces
As well as offering free access to internet devices and Wi-Fi in all our branches for library members, we have a few additional resources in some of our branches.
Our Internet Policy provides an overview of what to expect for all ages when you access our in-branch internet services. All you need to access our free Wi-Fi is your library card. If you don't have a library card yet, you can join now and collect your card when you call to the library.
Booking Info
If you would like to use our PCs, laptops or tablets, sessions can be booked in advance or accessed on a drop in basis. However, there are busy periods throughout the day, so if you have something specific to do, we’d recommend you call your local branch and book in advance to avoid disappointment. Before each session, please register at the main desk with a member of staff.
Feel free to use your own device and connect to Wi-Fi if it’s more convenient. We can’t guarantee a charging port, but we’ll accommodate it where possible.
Children and the Internet
• Children under 12 are welcome to use the Internet when supervised by an adult.
• Members between the ages of 12 and 17 (inclusive) may use the Internet on their own if a parent/guardian signs a Consent Form, in the presence of library staff. Consent by guarantor may also be agreed on registration.
• Consent Forms and guidelines for children and young people are available in all libraries.
EDUROAM
Eduroam, short for education roaming, is a Wi-Fi service which enables students, researchers, and staff from participating institutions to securely access the internet at their college/university and whilst visiting other Eduroam enabled locations. It aims to create extended virtual campuses and offer students multiple options to go online and connect to their Further and Higher Education institutions.
