Policies
The Collection Development Policy sets out how Donegal Library Service intends to build its collection to provide access to a wide range of quality resources for the entire community. The policy provides guidelines on the procedures and objectives for the selection, acquisition, management, promotion and disposal of stock. The policy ensures a consistent and balanced growth of the collection. It considers changing and emerging needs of communities in line with technological advances and access to services.

Welcome to ‘Mute-Unmute’, a collaborative book penned by Transition Year Students from Co. Donegal. Covid-19 has had a major impact on all of our lives, and in particular on young people. Libraries, arts, heritage, culture and creativity in all its forms, hugely contribute to our quality of life. The Library Service wanted to offer young people, through creative writing, a space to share their thoughts and feelings during the pandemic. We hope that they have enjoyed creating this impressive body of work. We hope you enjoy reading it, hearing their voices, and reflecting on their stories. |

Covid-19 had a devastating impact on all of our lives. It taught us how important everyday activities like reading, writing, drawing, singing, making music, appreciating our local heritage and history, being outdoors, and simply talking to each other in whatever form that takes, really are. Libraries, arts, heritage, culture and creativity in all its forms, hugely contribute to our quality of life. This book is a result of the collaboration of active retirees in Co. Donegal, under the expert tutelage of Denise Blake, author, poet and creative writing facilitator. Their writing offers us an insight into their lives during the pandemic. They offer hope and optimism and demonstrate the strong sense of community that is prevalent in Co. Donegal. |
